Cleaning Checklist Towards The Conclusion of a Tenancy

Cleaning after renters leave can be a time-consuming task, but it may be less expensive to hire a professional End of Tenancy Cleaner rather than doing it yourself.

Both landlords and renters may use the following End of Tenancy Cleaning Cleaning Checklist to ensure that no detail is overlooked when it comes to restoring the property to its original state.

Tenants should have their inventory, or check-in report, ready before you begin to ensure that they have covered all of the details required. For landlords, it’s more about having the home in the kind of shape that would assist them attract tenants who come for viewings.

Gather all of the cleaning supplies you’ll need, including cleaning fluid for kitchens, bathrooms, and windows, as well as lots of clothes and scourers, spray bottles, a mop and bucket, and a good vacuum cleaner.

Because you’ll be using the kitchen throughout your clean, it’s best to save the worst for last. Similarly, hoover or clean the floor last in each room…obviously.

If you want to renovate your home, be sure you have the appropriate renovation insurance in place before you begin.

Let’s get started!

End of Tenancy Cleaning Checklist

#1 Ceilings, doors, and walls

When cleaning walls, doors, and ceilings, keep the following in mind:

Examine the walls for scuff marks and, if necessary, clean or touch up with paint.
Light switches and electrical sockets should be cleaned and polished.
Remove cobwebs from ceilings with a long-handled duster, getting right into the corners.
Wipe down door surfaces and handles, as well as the tops of doors and doorframes, which collect dust at an alarming pace.
Clean the skirting boards with a damp cloth.
Clean the interior of the windows (and mirrors) — a smear-free finish may be achieved using a rolled-up newspaper.
Window sills and frames should be dusted and cleaned.

#2 Furnishings, fixtures, and fittings

Pay close attention to the following fixtures, fittings, and furnishings:

Dust and clean the tops of wardrobes, shelves, and cupboards if necessary.
Mirrors, picture frames, and curtain rails should all have their tops cleaned.
Light fixtures, lampshades, and even bulbs should all be dusted.
Tables, workstations, and sideboards, for example, should be dusted and polished.
Take the sofa cushions outside and beat them up.
Remove the cushions from the sofa and clean it.
Examine the insides of drawers and cupboards, then clean / empty them out as needed.

#3 Bathrooms

A thorough cleaning of the bathroom is necessary. It must be pristine whether you’re a tenant cleaning for an inspection or a landlord preparing for new renters.

Here’s what you should concentrate on:

Clean and shine the basin, faucets, and fixtures. A gleaming gloss may be achieved with vinegar or lemon juice.
Apply the same care to the bathtub, giving special attention to any limescale or hard water stains.
The bathroom. It’s not enjoyable, but it has to be done… A toilet brush, disinfectant, and rubber gloves are required. Soak the toilet in cleanser from the rim down for 10 minutes, then scrub before cleaning the exterior regions.
Clean all of the tiles with an old toothbrush, removing any mould from the grout.
Remove any limescale from the shower tray and shower doors, then clean the shower head to a gleam.
Clean the shower rails or radiators.
Use a proprietary unblocker to clear obstacles from the bath or basin if the water is draining slowly.
Clean extractor fans, which are often a dust trap.

#4 Kitchen

The kitchen is likely to be the most often used area in the house, as well as the dirtiest. The kitchen, along with the bathroom, is the most crucial to keep clean.

Here’s what we’ll be looking for:

Clean the hob thoroughly, removing any pieces that can be removed and cleaning them separately. Before utilizing a specialized cleaning and a lot of elbow grease, you’ll probably need to wet the hob surface.
Degrease and clean the oven
Wipe off all counters and surfaces.
Clean the kitchen sink thoroughly, being careful not to harm the stainless steel units, and remove limescale from taps and other fixtures.
Clean the interior and outside of the fridge/freezer, including the rubber seal.
Bins and bin areas should be emptied, cleaned, and disinfected.
Clean the extractor fan, including the filter, of grease and grime.
Make sure that all of the cupboards and drawers are empty and clean both inside and out.
Clean the wall tiles with an old toothbrush again, this time for any unclean grout.
Make the floor spotless.
Clean the interior and outside of the microwave, as well as other small appliances like toasters and kettles.
Ensure that all silverware, as well as any supplied cups, plates, and other items, are clean and stored in drawers.
Clean the interior and outside of all bigger equipment, such as the dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer.

#5 Carpets

Carpets are one of the most noticeable features of any space, and they are frequently the source of contention. The most thorough approach to clean a carpet is using a steam cleaning machine, which you can rent or have done for you by a professional. Even if you’re using a machine, vacuum first and move any furniture out of the way so you can thoroughly clean the carpet.

Many sorts of stains may be removed with a decent steam clean, but the carpet will take many hours to drycompletely. It should be the final thing you do, and you should work your way backwards to the exit door!

#6 Outside

Don’t overlook the first thing a potential tenant will see — the property’s exterior. Make sure there’s no trash about, that wheelie bins are empty and clean, and that any lawns and flower beds are mowed and weeded. Leaves and other debris should be swept away from any patios or decking areas, and embedded dirt or mould should be removed with a jet wash.

You’re now in the ideal position to find wonderful new renters and maximize the rent you can charge because your house is fully clean inside and out.
